ATV Helmets: Getting The Perfect Fit

One may think that buying perfect ATV helmets simply means measuring the circumference of your head and checking out the specification of the brand. This article tells you about those unknown tips used to ensure the safety of ATV helmets, which will protect your head during a crash. From the safety point of view, it is most important that ATV helmets fit perfectly.

Here are a few tips on how to buy ATV helmets that fit perfectly:

You usually hear the same advice from people when it comes to buying helmets and that is you should buy one that fits your head perfectly. But have you ever wondered what exactly is the definition of "perfect"? If you want to find out the answer then put the helmet on your head and try each one of them. When you put it one, if you are able to put it on with considerable ease and if you are also able to pull off the helmet with same ease then you know for sure that it is not going to do its job of protecting you. So get smart and try the next one.

The second step is to check the grip of the helmet. An ATV helmet is said to be fitted perfectly only if grabs your cheeks and jaws as well, when you put them on. Once the helmet is fitted perfectly on your head, shake your head and check if the helmet turns along with your head. Move your head front and back also along with sideways. If the helmet starts shaking a lot, then forget that piece and search for another one.

Try to tug the helmet as you take it out. In the last paragraph we have mentioned the fact that the helmet should not shake once it is fitted on your head. Do not release the closure of the retention system while trying to tug the helmet. When you start feeling the inner lining attached to the helmet tugging at your skin, while you tug the helmet, then Bingo! That's the right ATV helmet for you.

Many people mistakenly think that buying bigger ATV helmets are better than buying those of a smaller size. However this is not true in the case of ATV helmets. Bigger helmets can be more dangerous and when they are worn they can be pretty noisy too. What's worse, when your ATV helmet is too big for you it keeps slipping off and you will need to keep adjusting it which can be not only irritating but dangerous as well. If you are looking forward to a tension free ride on your beloved vehicle, it is important that you get the right equipment and that all of the equipment is of the right specifications.
